Man United go into today’s Premier League final match knowing it’s essentially a dead rubber and the planning for next season started a few weeks back, if not months.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking of the hottest talent around, as he bids to rebuild a squad that has delivered very little towards its fans in recent times. A wander back to the ‘United Way’ may see the young talent at Old Trafford lighting up the stands once again.
Daniel James fits that bill perfectly. The Wales and Swansea player is comfortable down either flank, which would help United’s versatility going forward providing them with a different dimension. At only 21-years-old, James has made steady progress through the ranks at Swansea, with this season making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring five and assisting ten along the way.
He’s only rated at 2.7m by Transfermarkt, which seems a snip. However, the figure been branded about is 10-15m by various sources but even that in today’s market is dirt cheap.
James likes to dribble, and with his blistering pace, it’s bound to strike fear into defenders. He has the ability to see a pass and play it at the key time, however, the defensive side of his game needs to improve. Which surely with time and experience that will come. Nevertheless, he is an exciting young, British prospect and time should be given for him to map out his game. We all remember a certain United legend Welsh left winger, and James looks very much in a similar mode.
Statistically, he is better suited on the left-hand side, as a more forward-thinking player. Fergie used to let talents like him flourish, let’s hope Solskjaer is allowed the time to do so with James during his tenure at Old Trafford.
Man United fans, what do you make of Daniel James – Excited or would you rather see a higher profile player linked?
