Altrincham Football Club can make the first step towards promotion into the Vanarama National League’s top division by beating Chester today. With the winner due to meet York City in the semi-final on Saturday 25th July at 3 pm.

After an incredibly unique season, Altrincham can finally get a little football under their belts albeit in an empty stadium.

Alty have impressed for a few seasons now and has always looked good for a decent run in the National League North playoffs.

Here is why they have a great chance of joining league winners King’s Lynn Town in promotion:

The Robins top the table when it comes to form over the last six games, with 4 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Their opponents Chester are hovering near the bottom in 17th place in the form guide having suffered 4 losses and just 2 wins.

Scoring goals has not been a problem for Altrincham who netted 17 times in the 6 games.

Squad Strength

Altrincham received a significant boost when Crewe Alexandra agreed that midfielder Josh Lundstrum could remain on loan and be included in the play-off campaign.

The 21-year-old player who had been a regular for the Under 23 Crewe Alexandra team, made a major impact during his loan spell at Altrincham making ten league starts during his 2 months spell.

Manager Phil Parkinson has advised that he is happy with the condition that the players have come back in following the enforced break.

‘If preparation has got anything to do with it, I’m sure we will go into it full of confidence knowing that we can get the result’.

Altrincham kick off today at 1:30 pm and you can stream it live for £5.99 >>
