Two Oldham Athletic players that should be given start against Liverpool tonight

Before Oldham Athletic takes on Liverpool Under 21’s, here are two players that the Football Manc Cave have picked out who should be getting a chance to play.

The fixture will be played at home for Oldham and it is for the Trophy.

Unfortunately Oldhams opening game of League Two saw them lose 1-0 to Forest Green Rovers. This game shouldn’t be taken as seriously as the league however it should be a chance for some players to get a game.

David Wheater

He only signed for the club this week and got a game already at the weekend, however, this will give him a perfect opportunity to try and gel with his new team while not being under as much pressure.

Oldhams defence needs work and the experience that Wheater has is great. He just needs to form a tighter style of play at the back with his new teammates.

Chris Eagles

Another player who signed for the Latics over the summer. He was on the bench for Oldhams opening game and should be considered in the starting line up against the Under 21’s Liverpool squad so that the manager, fans and club can see how he gels with his new team too.

This will also give Oldham a chance to get tighter in the positions that they struggled in, in their first game of the season but without the added pressure of league points.
