The nightmare stint as a Man United player may nearly be over for Alexis Sanchez, as it seems all way point to an Old Trafford exit this summer.
Inter Milan have been heavily linked with the piano playing Chilean, as he looks for a way out. With the former Arsenal’s man wages so high it might prove a sticking point in the negotiations, however, United have been reported to have offered to pay him off in a bid to get him off the wage bill.
Having played in Serie A already with Udinese before his move to Barcelona, for Inter they will be buying a player with league experience. Furthermore, maybe the slower paced Italian league may suit Sanchez, as he looks to get back to his best form in a country that he made a name for himself originally.
With Solskjaer needing to rebuild his squad, using Sanchez as a makeweight in a deal that sees an Inter Milan player coming the other way probably won’t happen. With the player wanting to leave, and the club itself wanting the player out, it could well be an easy transaction. However, the Serie A side does have a couple of players that Solskjaer and Co should give a coat of looking at…
The 25-year-old midfielder hasn’t played to much this season, however, in his 13 starts for Inter Milan he has scored five goals. Gagliardini had been dubbed the white Paul Pogba following his move from Atalanta in 2017 and has a very bright future ahead of him.
He is versatile in the midfield and possesses an outstanding ability to cover more ground than anyone in a bid to capture the ball and release the counter-attack.
Rated at 26.2m, the Italian could be a very good addition to Solskjaer’s new look side.
The Argentine forward moved to the San Siro in 2013 from Sampdoria for 11.7m, since then his stock has risen to a whopping 81m.
However, things have soured for the former Captain since February over contract talks and is now looking for a way out of the club. Icardi is in a similar position to that of Sanchez – with both the player and the club wanting an exit.
The sticking point is, his rumoured preferred choice is Juventus, the current Serie A league winners, and hugely dominant force in Italy. But with United needing a striker and wanting the offload a player in Inter’s direction, this sounds like an easy deal to make…if there is such a thing in football.
