LOWDOWN: Who is Man Utd target Denzel Dumfries

It appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may prefer an attacking full-back in Denzel Dumfries over the defensive-minded Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

If you’ve never heard of Denzel Dumfries, you may recognise him from the recent UEFA Nations League Semi-Final as part of the Dutch setup that snubbed out England. Dumfries had a good game at full-back, proving to be a handful for the likes of Sterling and Sancho.

He had an impressive season in the Dutch League ‘Eredivisie’, being in every starting 11 for PSV Eindhoven with 34 appearances which involved 4 goals and 7 assists. Comparing this to current full-back Ashley Young’s 2018/19 Premier League season, which saw the Manchester United captain bag only 2 goals and 2 assists in 30 games. It shows that this young Dutchman could provide more for this underperforming Manchester United attack, which desperately needs the ball on a plate in order to score goals.

Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer entice a world-class centre-back to Manchester United, such as De Ligt, Maguire or Koulibaly. It may allow more room for a free and attacking full-back, whilst a solid defender can cover for him behind.

According to very recent reports, Manchester United are looking to sign the young Dutchman Denzel Dumfries, 23 years of age, for around £25million. Half of what Crystal Palace expect for the services of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. By saving £25million on the right-back position it should allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to spend bigger in other areas, especially with the rumoured departures of the big names at Old Trafford including the likes of Paul Pogba, David De Gea and Romelu Lukaku.

It is clear that Solskjaer is somewhat trying to replicate the old-school setup of Manchester United. Having recently acquired the Welsh winger Daniel James, who will be crucial to Manchester United’s counter-attacking format.

Denzel Dumfries comes at a much lower price than Wan-Bissaka despite being two years older, but this is due to Wan-Bissaka being young, English and Premier League proven. Wan-Bissaka would surely bolster the arguably terrible Manchester United defence, but Solskjaer may risk this in order to develop a more fast-paced and counter-attacking Manchester United unit.

Bernardo Silva: Ballon d’Or Favourite After Exceptional Season?

After winning the UEFA Nations League player of the tournament, could Bernardo Silva be in the running for the Ballon d’Or award?

It would be fair to say that Silva has had a remarkable season, he’s won three trophies with Man City and now been a part of the winning Nations League team. However, the Premier League have overlooked the 24-year-old and have shown to be more in favour of Sterling’s efforts and Van Dijk.

It is now being discussed to who will win this year’s Ballon d’Or award and understandably, Silva’s name is in the mix.

Virgil Van Dijk is set to be favourite to win the award after his impressive season and a Champions League win. Lionel Messi is also in the running, which is standard. Now that Silva is being recognised for his efforts, maybe the City star will earn another trophy for his collection.

When Bernardo won the Nations League player of the tournament, teammate Ronaldo didn’t seem too impressed, maybe he expected the award himself but if Silva also takes home the Ballon d’Or, how will 5-time winner Ronaldo take that news?

Personally, I think it’s about time a City player won the award as they have been looked over for years. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and even Leicester have all had more recognition from the French award officials than City have had in a decade.

The closest that a City player has been to take this award home was Kevin De Bruyne last year when he came in 9th place. So can Bernardo Silva set another City record by getting further up that list or even topping it? I really do hope so, I’m just not convinced that he will get as much of a look in as others, after he’s already won one award for his individual efforts this year and several team awards.

‘Could Get Used To De Ligt Doing This In a Man Utd Shirt’ ‘If De Ligt Plays In Man City Shirt, They Win All Competitions’ Utd & City Fans React To Target De Ligt

Matthijs De Ligt is wanted by nearly every major club across the world this transfer window, the two Manchester giants included.

Therefore we took to Twitter to look at how fans of the two clubs reacted to the performance of their potential new centre half, on Thursday night as he played for his country the Netherlands against our very own England in the semi-final of the Nations League.

On what wasn’t the greatest of performances from the young Dutchman, he definitely showed flashes of the incredible leadership and potential he possesses. Making up for earlier in the game when he was easily beaten by Jaden Sancho and, then giving away a penalty after a lack in concentration saw him miss-control a pass before fouling Marcus Rashford for England’s goal.

The concentration lapse coming from inexperience, something that will phase out of his game over time.

Man Utd fans React to ‘He’s Too God Damn Good’ Bruno Fernandes’ performance for Portugal

According to the Daily Star, Man United will announce the signing of Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes after the conclusion of Nations League 2019, with the fee rumoured to be around £62 million.

Fernandes and another proposed target for United, Joao Felix, both featured in Portugal’s 3-1 victory over Switzerland. Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick deserves a mention.

Dan James will be Solksjaer’s first summer signing, assuming he passes the planned medical. He will join United in a deal that could be worth up to £18 million. It’s looking like their transfer strategy is to sign young, hungry talent that will give everything to wear the famous red shirt. The bang opposite to Alexis Sanchez, basically.

The massive re-building process is underway, let’s see what United fans made of Fernandes’ performance last night…

‘Absolute Joy To Watch’ ‘Sterling Played Very Bad’ England Fans Split Over Man City’s Sterling Performance

Raheem Sterling captained England for the first time last night on his 50th appearance. The Three Lions lost 1-3 in their Nations League semi-final vs Holland, with Man City team-mate John Stones making a huge error at 1-1, to gift the Dutch a lead in extra-time.

Sterling was voted PFA 2018/19 young player of the season, after playing a pivotal role in City’s domestic treble winning side. The winger finished his campaign with 25 goals and 17 assists, his best stats yet since joining The Blues from Liverpool in 2015.

Sterling is often criticised for his performances in an England shirt, particularly at last summer’s World Cup when fans thought he wasn’t effective enough. Had Harry Kane squared it to Sterling in the semi-final at 1-0, he would’ve been entered into folklore. If only, ey.

‘I’d Rather Have Kidney Stones Than John Stones’ England Fans Humorous Reactions to Man City’s John Stones

I think it’s safe to say that England fans were hoping for victory last night but instead, they were left disappointed by another semifinal loss.

The Three Lions managed to score first in the second Nations League Semi final last night when a penalty was awarded, but couldn’t cling on to the lead as the Netherlands equalised and took the game to a painful extra time were England ended up losing 3-1.

After the disappointing loss to Croatia in the World Cup, I along with many other England fans were expecting a performance last night that showed the team were hungry to make it to the final but instead, a sloppy defence made the game unbearable to watch.

John Stones is the man in the firing line today as he was blamed for a lot of the mistakes at the back. Last night, most England fans were frustrated and fed up but, I’ve managed to cheer myself up this morning by having a scroll through Twitter.

Jamie Carragher was in the studio for Sky Sports last night and he had a lot to say about the City player if you missed it, I’ve attached his rant below but in my opinion, he is absolutely spot on.

This particular tweet and the replies had me laughing this morning. England fans have become that used to the disappointment and can make a joke out of a bad situation.

Some missed England’s previous stars.

There were very few fans this morning jumping to Stones’ defence, some thinking that the Nations League isn’t that important.

Forget Joao Felix, Man City Should Be Going For One of These Two Midfielders Instead

Pep Guardiola is a man on a mission this week. Man City needs a replacement for the midfielder, Fernandinho and the biggest link at current comes from Benfica.

Joao Felix will be in a £120 million “tug of war” between United and City as he is watched by scouts from both teams on Wednesday night in the Nations League semi-final.

The 19-year-old scored 18 goals in 33 games for Benfica this season but should Man City be looking elsewhere?

Of course, goals win games but Guardiola has always picked out his players with a plan in mind and he’s already got plenty of goal scorers.

Rodrigo Hernández Cascante (Rodri)

Man City should consider their options and look for a slightly older player with a little more experience behind him, that can match the strong attacking midfield they already have. Rodri is a 22-year-old central midfielder who currently plays for Atlético Madrid.

He has already represented Spain internationally 6 times last year alone. It has been rumoured that City scouts have Rodri on the backup plan list, however, it is believed that the Spanish centre mid has a £62 million release clause in his contract. This could be a problem for the blues and could be the reason he is not top of that list but seeing as Pep’s team love to break records, why not go for another?

If the signing of Rodri was to go ahead, it would be a club record transfer.

Marcos Llorente Moreno

Another option and a cheaper option may I add, would be the 24-year-old, Real Madrid midfielder, Marcos Llorente. In 2014, a young Llorente was watched by Zinedine Zidane when playing for Madrid’s youth team, he was immediately promoted to the reserves team by Zidane himself.

The Spanish international also represented his country for the Under 19’s and 21’s. Four years down the line and Zidane comes back to manage Real Madrid’s first team, only starting the midfielder 3 times all season. This could be enough for Marcos wanting to leave Madrid and, would place him perfectly as an option for Pep to look into.
