‘Could Get Used To De Ligt Doing This In a Man Utd Shirt’ ‘If De Ligt Plays In Man City Shirt, They Win All Competitions’ Utd & City Fans React To Target De Ligt

Matthijs De Ligt is wanted by nearly every major club across the world this transfer window, the two Manchester giants included.

Therefore we took to Twitter to look at how fans of the two clubs reacted to the performance of their potential new centre half, on Thursday night as he played for his country the Netherlands against our very own England in the semi-final of the Nations League.

On what wasn’t the greatest of performances from the young Dutchman, he definitely showed flashes of the incredible leadership and potential he possesses. Making up for earlier in the game when he was easily beaten by Jaden Sancho and, then giving away a penalty after a lack in concentration saw him miss-control a pass before fouling Marcus Rashford for England’s goal.

The concentration lapse coming from inexperience, something that will phase out of his game over time.

Forget Chilwell: Man City Should Be Looking At These Two Players Instead

With football, all wrapped up for the season, except the women’s World Cup. The options for fans of the domestic game are the transfer window and love island.

With no football, transfer rumours become more and more sought after. Following on from a conversation between Pep Guardiola and Leicester City’s Ben Chillwell on the pitch, it only right to link the two together in this crazy offseason.

Chillwell however, has been linked with Man City in the past following Mendy’s injury worries and Zinchenko’s inability to fully place his marker as the number one full back.

So assuming if you are here reading this, you are interested in what players Pep is going for this season, here are two players I’d like to see Manchester City go for…

Matthjis De Ligt

De Ligt has been named on every club’s wishlist this season, and while most of the talk has been for him going to the other Manchester club, with Kompany leaving the club, a world-class centre back would be a welcome addition.

Whether Manchester City will get involved in what will be a heated bidding war with a number of European clubs is a different question, but there is no arguing that the Ajax man would be a huge asset to any club.

Takefusa Kubo

There’s been a lot of talk around Joao Felix as a young striker who could make a name for himself at the club. However, I’d look elsewhere here, and suggest Takefusa Kubo, who turned 18 on the day this was written and could be an excellent prospect.

He has been playing for senior sides at the mere age of 17, and is known as the Japanese Messi. Having had an excellent grounding in the Barcelona academy he could fit well into the City set up. Rumours are floating about that he wants to return to Europe and, there is bound to be big interest and big money for this potential future superstar.

Does Marcus Rojo Have a Future at Man Utd or Should Solskjaer Get Rid

When Louis Van Gaal signed Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon in 2016, after only hearing good things about the player. Many thought he would become a first-team centre half regular. However, unfortunately for the Red Devils, Marcos Rojo’s career has been nothing short of disappointing.

After being injury prone ever since joining the club, his career at Man United has been under speculation for the past couple of seasons now. However, to the surprise of most fans, Rojo stated during a conversation with Soljasker to El Dia “He said that I was in his plans, that I’m an important player and that he wanted me to return to full fitness, to be able to count on me in the first team.”

For United fans, this comes very unexpectedly. In a window where the deadwood looks surely ready to be cleared out, one would assume Rojo would be a part of this clear-out, having barely featured under Solskjaer last term.

With Man United linked to Ajax’s young and promising centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, you’d think that that would be the standard Solskjaer is looking for to finally replace Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand these many years later (A problem that should have been sorted a long time ago).

Not someone to the equivalent of the Phil Jones and Chris Smalling level. At 29 and unable to finish the 90 minutes in his mere six appearances last season, perhaps it’s time to get rid.

Solskjaer has some tough decisions to make, and the Argentine has to be one of them surely. In a new era for the Red Devils, players like Rojo have to be bumped off the wage bill along with others who are happy to sit around and collect at the end of the week.

Granted Rojo does leave everything on the pitch, but in most cases is a liability – Solskjaer can not afford that going into next season.

Man Utd fans, let us know your thoughts below…

Could an Improved Offer Tempt De Ligt To a Season Of Europa League at Man United

With the transfer window in full flow, it’s this time of year where managers start to put there transfer plans in action and prepare there a team for the new season ahead, and for one man, in particular, this will involve a total team rebuild.

After Manchester United’s disastrous season and missing out on Champions League football, the question is where does Ole Gunnar Solskjaer start. With only seven clean sheets last season, only three more than Burnley, Solskjaer needs to start with the leaky woeful defence.

One man who has been linked with Manchester United recently is Matthijs De Ligt. However, with Manchester United not competing in the Champions League, and instead are going to be competing in the Europa league will De Ligt be tempted to join the Red Devil’s.

To make matters worse for Solskjaer and Ed Woodward it’s rumoured that Barcelona are very interested in signing the young Dutch centre back.

With Manchester United only finishing sixth in the table and only offering Europa league football next season, and Barcelona showing a very keen interest – I’d say Matthijs De Ligt is destined for Barcelona!

How can Manchester United compete?

Word on the grapevine is that Manchester United are going to offer De Ligt £350,000 a week which will make him the third highest paid player at Manchester United behind Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba, that’s if the two are still plying there trade at Old Trafford next season.

With this astronomical offer its rumoured that this offer as got De Ligt’s attention and, he’s keen to take up the offer with the opportunity to be the poster boy of Manchester United being a particular interest. To be involved in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s major rebuilding process also supposedly interests De Ligt.

Would De Ligt be willing to snub Barcelona and Champions League football to join the Red Devil’s, and be in the heart of defence in this historic team?

Only time will tell, however, Barcelona would be aware of any Manchester United offer. It’s whether they are will to match or refuse to budge on there offer, as to the destination of the Ajax Captain.

‘De Ligt is a Smokescreen For Glenn Murray’ ‘More Chance of Signing Him on a Transfer Ban’ Man Utd Fans Are Not Having The De Ligt Rumours

Rumours are flying high this morning after promising Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt liked Rio Ferdinand’s Instagram post.

Yeah, you read that right, seemingly nowadays that means the transfer is signed, sealed and delivered. However, one of Europe’s most sought prospects has his pick of teams, reportedly Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich – so surely joining a Man United side, not in the Champions League would be a bizarre move for the Ajax Captain.

Having played 55 times across all competitions last season, and largely impressing, De Ligt is the name on the tip of everyone’s tongue. No doubt his agent will be throwing names into the hat to bump up the price, a rumoured 70m.

Has we have seen in previous transfers, many agents use United’s name to either gain a new well-paid contract for their player or engineer a bigger move away.

It’s unlikely De Ligt will choose the bright lights of Old Trafford and many Red Devils seem to agree…

Who Could Man City Sign as Pep Targets a 200m Summer Spending Spree

Despite becoming the first team to successfully retain the Premier League title for the first time in a decade, Man City manager Pep Guardiola will target up to four new signings this summer.

A fresh financial fair play scandal has re-surfaced since City won the league after beating Brighton 4-1 on Sunday. Yet despite the success, Guardiola is set to strengthen the squad as he aims to conquer Europe for the first time since 2011.

With a reported 200 million budget set to become open at the Etihad, who could come to the Etihad this season as the likes of Nicolas Otamendi, Fabian Delph and Eliaquim Mangala and Danilo all look set to leave the Premier League champions this summer.

We take a look at some potentials…

Matthijs de Ligt

Having recently turned down a move across town to Man United, The Ajax defender may look over to the east side of Manchester as he looks set to leave Holland.

City look set to move for a new centre back this summer and De Ligt could be a key addition. Yet with Barcelona looking like favourites ahead of the blues, Guardiola may miss out, just like with Jorginho 12 months ago.

Rodri

The Atletico Madrid man could swap clubs with Otamendi this summer and indeed replace Fernandinho in the holding midfield role. The 34-year-old is not getting any younger these days either and, Ilkay Gundogan may not be the man to fill the role particularly in the big European games.

According to the Telegraph, City will meet Atletico’s 60 million request for Rodri. With the CDM role such a priority, the chances are this price will be met and equal the club transfer record currently held by Riyad Mahrez.

Harry Maguire

Featuring as a potential signing for Man United last week by thefootballmancave.com, Maguire may not be a bad move to City either and finding negatives for the England international is a tricky one.

Admired by Guardiola, Maguire knows the league better than any up and coming foreign star. At 26 years old, he can play in this City team with John Stones and Aymeric Laporte for many years to come. Captain Vincent Kompany may extend his contract by another year too.

Arsenal and Chelsea will join the Manchester clubs in the hunt at a price of 60 million.

Houssem Aouar

Premier League rivals Liverpool will do battle with City off the pitch this summer before they go again next August on it.

Aouar can play in a variety of midfield roles including the ‘number six’ position, one that will bring music to Guardiola’s ears. Having scored seven goals in his breakthrough Ligue 1 season.

In the Champions League last season, the blues only took one point out of a possible six against the French team. Having been described as ‘incredible’ by the Catalan, it would be no surprise to see him in sky blue come pre-season.

Man United Should Go For These TWO Defenders Instead if De Ligt Rejects Summer Move

Ajax centre back Matthijs De Ligt has been rumoured to have rejected a 60 million summer move to Old Trafford, just at the time reds boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes his first attempt to rebuild United’s broken defence.

Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Huddersfield ended their hopes of a top-four finish meaning for the fourth time since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down from the Old Trafford hot seat, United won’t be playing in Champions League next season.

De Ligt’s Old Trafford snub means that Ole will have to turn to his Plan B options in defence. But who could they be for United as they look to rebuild their squad this summer?

We take a look below…

Harry Maguire

Perhaps not so much a left field option for United, but Maguire will know of the Reds interest, particularly after last summers wild attempt to steal the Englishmen from Leicester City.

Maguire looked the part on Monday night at the Etihad as his side were narrowly defeated 1-0 by reigning Champions Manchester City. This move would be seen as an upgrade for the Foxes men, particularly as Leicester don’t play Champions League or any European football. However, potentially having to go higher than the 75m bid last season, could put the Red Devils off. Whether Maguire would leave this new and exciting Brendan Rodgers project at the 2016 champions could be very doubtful.

Ben Godfrey

The Norwich man has already appeared on www.thefootballmancave.com site before as a potential United signing. Ex-player Rio Ferdinand has already called for club officials to make a move on Godfrey this summer.

The 21-year-old is believed to have sounded a move away from Carrow Road and United could be an offer impossible to turn down. A young British defender with great potential, he hasn’t missed a minute of Championship action since December.

However, whereas with Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, United wouldn’t be signing proven talent at the top level. This approach to the transfer market mirrors signings of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones back in 2010 and 2011. This is something Solskjaer will have to consider. Whether signing proven world-class talent or younger players blessed with potential.

Pep Goes Against His Former Team Barcelona For Ajax Star Matthijs de Ligt But What’s All The Fuss About?

Manchester City are always on the lookout for Europe’s best talent to improve their already incredible team, and none come more exciting than Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

With the possible departure of Nicolas Otamendi and legendary club captain Vincent Kompany getting to his twilight years, City need to continue their impressive recruitment by bringing in a player of age and quality – De Ligt fits the bill perfectly.

It seems Ajax are going to be a victim of their own success this transfer window, much like Monaco a few seasons ago. Ajax have built a team of talented youngsters and they have all seemed to come to fruition at the same time. With most of the European giants starting to hover around, it looks like the Dutch defender is the target for Pep’s old side Barcelona also, with the competition for buying the best hots up massively again this year.

The 19-year-old looks strong in the air and his passing game would suit Pep Guardiola’s style perfectly, however his tackling can let him down at times. This is where Kompany’s experience and guidance in his latter years would pay dividends.

De Ligt has also found himself on scoresheet four times this season in his 45 appearances, as Ajax push for the Eredivisie title and a possible Champions League final.

The 63m rated star is already a full Dutch international, with 15 appearances and one goal for his country – which in itself speaks volumes of this lads talent and hype. No doubt many clubs will be linked, nevertheless, when Man City come knocking, especially with Pep, you can’t see many players turning that chance down lightly.

Manchester City fans what do you think, do you think De Ligt fits the Pep bill perfectly, or is there someone else you’d prefer?
