2 exciting Man Utd prospects that you simply need to keep tabs on, could be worth big money

With a lack of depth in Man Utd’s squad, youngsters will likely be called up at some point this season. Should it be an injury, lack of form, or fatigue, Solskjaer has promised youngsters game time, and two players, in particular, should be high on his list…

Manchester United have always been praised for their academy. How the club has harnessed and integrated their youth over time has been a large part of the club’s success.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will likely continue Sir Alex Ferguson’s project of turning youth players in the starters. We have seen this already against Chelsea, where Man Utd had five academy graduates on the field and two on the bench.

Two youngsters, in particular, both need and deserve game time this season. If not for the future of themselves, then for the future investment they will bring to the club’s wallet.

Angel Gomes

Gomes, 18, is one of England’s best young prodigies. His goal against Tottenham in pre-season and his legacy in the youth academy shows all the signs of a world-class player in the making. Gomes could easily be the next Jadon Sancho. A young English talent who isn’t the first choice, moving abroad and finding success.

Gomes has a very continental style of play and could fix any league ranging from German, English, French and Spanish. His close control, dribbling ability and low centre of gravity make him akin to Lionel Messi. Could we see this youngster move to Barcelona for £100million in the coming years? The concept is not unlikely.

Ethan Laird

Laird is an 18-year-old full-back who has been extremely impressive over recent months in the academy. At under-16s level, the right-footed defender played left-back and bagged himself 22 goals in that season.

Having an attacking full-back who can work on both sides is becoming more and more important in modern football. Despite the demand not being high just yet, the future demand could result in a huge fee from a top club for this versatile and well-drilled defender.

Does Raheem Sterling want to be Man City’s main striker?

Man City’s 5-0 victory over West Ham saw Sterling get a hattrick on an opening day. By the looks of it, there’s plenty more to see from him…

Guardiola himself has said that being a striker would be an incredible position for Sterling. Understandable, seeing as he has scored a minimum of a goal per game since the beginning of Man City’s pre-season tour.

Gabriel Jesus is beginning to see more game time as Sergio Aguero reaches the latter stages of his career at 34 years old. But it looks as though Sterling is the one keen on filling the Argentine’s boots in becoming Man City’s goal scorer.

Upon Man City receiving a penalty against West Ham, Sterling and Aguero had to debate who took it.

This demonstrates how highly Sterling believes his impact is on the squad, to challenge a figure like Aguero. His behavior, motivation, and determination show a player itching to be in thoughts of the manager, for some reason or other.

In this case, it appears that Sterling wants to be the main man at Manchester City.

The English international has been pivotal to Man City’s recent back-to-back Premier League title. Finishing second top goal scorer in both seasons, with a total of 48 goals across the two, he will be looking to take up a notch this season.

What will be different about his game this season?

Many forget that he is only 24-years of age, and it is common for wingers to develop into magnificent strikers. Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi to name a few.

Come Christmas-time and Raheem Sterling is miles ahead of Aguero and Jesus on goals will we see him become the main man up front? What would come of Jesus and who would play on the wing instead?

Sterling has become increasingly clinical in front of goal over recent months and seasons. It is evident that he wants to score goals in and around the box for Manchester City.

We could see Guardiola give him these opportunities this season should he continue bagging goals in this fashion. Let’s just hope he can do it for England.

Bernardo Silva: Ballon d’Or Favourite After Exceptional Season?

After winning the UEFA Nations League player of the tournament, could Bernardo Silva be in the running for the Ballon d’Or award?

It would be fair to say that Silva has had a remarkable season, he’s won three trophies with Man City and now been a part of the winning Nations League team. However, the Premier League have overlooked the 24-year-old and have shown to be more in favour of Sterling’s efforts and Van Dijk.

It is now being discussed to who will win this year’s Ballon d’Or award and understandably, Silva’s name is in the mix.

Virgil Van Dijk is set to be favourite to win the award after his impressive season and a Champions League win. Lionel Messi is also in the running, which is standard. Now that Silva is being recognised for his efforts, maybe the City star will earn another trophy for his collection.

When Bernardo won the Nations League player of the tournament, teammate Ronaldo didn’t seem too impressed, maybe he expected the award himself but if Silva also takes home the Ballon d’Or, how will 5-time winner Ronaldo take that news?

Personally, I think it’s about time a City player won the award as they have been looked over for years. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and even Leicester have all had more recognition from the French award officials than City have had in a decade.

The closest that a City player has been to take this award home was Kevin De Bruyne last year when he came in 9th place. So can Bernardo Silva set another City record by getting further up that list or even topping it? I really do hope so, I’m just not convinced that he will get as much of a look in as others, after he’s already won one award for his individual efforts this year and several team awards.

LOWDOWN: Who is Manchester United Target Giovani Lo Celso?

As the transfer window rumours continue to rumble on, once again a player has been linked to Manchester United.

Reports are emerging that Manchester United could join Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Real Betis midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso and that the bidding as opened up at £53m.

Who is Giovani Lo Celso and why is he generating so must interest?

The 23-year-old Argentinian midfielder initially joined Real Betis from Paris Saint Germain on loan last summer, with Real Betis paying Lo Celso’s transfer clause of £19.35m in April making the move permanent. Lo Celso as had an impressive season having made 46 appearances, scoring 16 goals and 6 assists, so it’s not surprising he’s caught the eye of some European clubs.

If you are an attacking midfielder from the city of Rosario in North Eastern Argentina and favour you’re left foot, you’re in good company. Superstars like Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria were both born in the city and the next man of the production line of creators is Giovani Lo Celso.

An ex-teammate of Angel Di Maria, Lo Celso came through the ranks at Rosario central and, is now aiming to emulate that of his ex-teammate Di Maria and international team-mate Messi, by becoming a household name in European football. The 23-year-old youngster shot to prominence very quickly. He made his first-team debut for Central in July 2015 and after 45 games and some very promising performances, this prompted PSG to part with £8.5m to sign the promising attacking midfielder in July 2016.

This move came only just one year after Lo Celso made his first-team debut for Rosario Central. After signing for PSG, Lo Celso had to wait three months before making his anticipated debut in a cup tie against US Avranches. Lo Celso added four Ligue 1 appearances and impressed with some stunning displays, highlighting his potential and quality.

Lo Celso is a complete midfielder who can play both wide areas and centrally. However, his best position is behind the striker as a number 10 or as one of the more attacking midfielders in a three-man central midfield. He boasts a good passing range, and Lo Celso combination play is superb. The midfielder is very adept at linking play both with short passes and longer ones which makes him the ideal midfielder.

Lo Celso is sublime in the final third, finding through passes to create chances and thereby also goals, he also boasts a good shot which makes him a threat from a distance if he’s given space outside the penalty area.

Another good feature of his game and a feature that is sought by in modern football is his ability to beat his opponents in midfield by dribbling. With his close control and acceleration, this makes Lo Celso a difficult player to defend against as he can break the defensive lines of the opposition either by passing or dribbling through them.

His technical ability with the ball, coupled with his calmness when in possession also sees him become very resistant to pressure as he remains calm and in charge of the situation. Lo Celso’s speed, acceleration, balance, intelligence and technical ability make him an attacking player with a close to complete skill set, and a complete midfielder.
