These 2 players stood out as Salford City ease past Tranmere Rovers

Last night saw Salford City travel to Tranmere Rovers for the final round of the Leasing.com trophy. They managed a 2-0 win and progressed to the next round.

Salford has been competing in the Leasing.com Trophy for the first time. Last night saw them win 2-0 which means they topped their group and have advanced to the next stage.

Collectively, the Salford squad put on a great performance. However, there was two stand out players.

Oscar Threlkeld opened the score sheet after only 2 minutes. Then, the Salford Captain, Liam Hogan managed to head home the winner.

Here’s why both of these players deserve praise for their performances…

Oscar Threlkeld

The ex Bolton player has only been with Salford since the start of this campaign. I have seen him in action and have been very impressed by him in the past.

I predicted that he would be a stand out player for Salford this season, however, he hasn’t had much game time.

Last night saw him start the game and score after 2 minutes. This goes to show that he should be in the squad more often.

Liam Hogan

The 30-year-old centre back started his first game for the Ammies this season last night. He has been watching from the sidelines due to recovery.

Now, he is back with the Captain’s armband on. Fans are happy to see him return. Especially when he scored.

In the 56th minute, he showed that he was back with a bang when he headed home the winner. This clearly shows that he is still working just as hard.

2 Man United youngsters that should impress tonight against Doncaster Rovers

Man United Under-21’s will face Doncaster Rovers tonight in the EFL trophy. The Football Manc Cave are picking out two youngsters who will be looking to impress.

Man United’s first team face Chelsea tomorrow night. The form at Old Trafford recently hasn’t been great.

The January transfer window can’t come soon enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, until that time comes he has been relying on youth squad members to develop into the first team.

Players like Brandon Williams, who is only 19 years old, have made it into the first team recently. It also looks like youngster, James Garner will be making it into that first team soon as well.

With the game against Doncaster tonight there will be a few youngsters looking to impress. They will want to move in the same directions as the other teenagers who have made it into the first team.

Tahith Chong

The Dutch 19 year old is close to breaking into the first team squad at Old Trafford.

However, the right winger hasn’t yet made it that far. If he makes it into the squad to face Doncaster tonight, he will want to show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer what he’s missing.

Angel Gomes

The 19-year old attacking midfielder is another player who will be looking to impress tonight. He will want to try and break into the first team at Man United.

He has risen through the youth ranks with Man United. Bosses at Old Trafford want to develop young home-grown talent.

2 Man City youngsters that should impress tonight against Bolton

Man City Under 21s face Bolton Wanderers tonight in the Football League Trophy. The talent in Man City’s youth squad is known to be very good so there should be a few standout players on the pitch tonight.

With Man City’s first team playing Southampton as well, there might be some youth squad members that Pep Guardiola needs tonight.

For example, Eric Garcia might be needed in defence. Along with Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

However, there will still be a lot of young talent to choose from. The Football Manc Cave have picked out two players who should impress against Bolton…

Jayden Jezairo Braaf

The 17-year old left winger will be one to watch tonight.

The Netherlands Under-17 international can also operate the right-wing. He has also scored a few goals this season already so maybe looking to do it again tonight.

Lewis Fiorini

The 17-year old attacking midfielder will be looking to impress tonight if he gets a game.

The Scottish teenager is a product of Man City’s youth. His mission will probably be to impress Pep Guardiola in the future.

The Bolton Wanderers team to face Man City u21’s should look like this

Bolton Wanderers will face Man City Under-21’s tonight in a Football League Trophy game. The Football Manc Cave have predicted how Keith Hill will line up his team.

While this clash will be a tough one for Bolton, it will also be a very exciting one for fans.

It will be interesting to see how Keith Hill uses his players in terms of the starting line-up.

It’s obvious that he will want his side to go out and try and win the game. However, this might give him a chance to play some younger players who have been benched recently.

This is the starting line-up that I have predicted for tonight…

Team

My guess is that Keith Hill will want to give the strongest possible starting 11 a chance.

Having options like Ali Crawford, Daryl Murphy and Joe Dodoo upfront will surely give a strong attacking side.

Plan B

Bolton had a situation at the beginning of the season in which they had to play young players in order to fulfill fixtures.

However, that is something that has benefited them now because they always have options on the bench.

If Keith Hill does go with a similar starting line-up to what I have picked, then he will have options like Sonny Graham and Adam Senior that choose from.

2 key Man City u23’s that will cause Rochdale problems tonight

The future of Man City will face Rochdale in the Leasing.com Trophy and two youngsters, in particular, will be looking to make a name for themselves in this local derby…

Man City could begin to bring players through the youth system as opposed to buying in talent, which would give the club more status in world football. The Leasing.com Trophy gives an opportunity for young talent to face experienced first-team players from lower leagues.

In their first game of the group stage of the competition, Man City u23s will face a decent Rochdale side at Spotland Stadium.

In a tough game against a confident side in a harsh league, the youth of Man City needs to put in a professional display. However, there are 2 players in particular who will put in a huge performance against Rochdale…

Benjamin Garre

Garre, 19, came from Argentina in 2016 to join up with Man City’s academy. This old-fashioned winger has a certain style of play that doesn’t come around so often in modern football, making him a project for the future.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Garre must impress this season. Performing against people his age might not be enough to convince Guardiola that the winger can come close to the first team any time soon. However, a successful run in a competition against experienced players will allow him to prove otherwise.

Iker Pozo

Pozo was a part of the Real Madrid youth academy before joining Man City in 2012. Being part of both of these academies tells you how highly this 19-year-old midfielder is rated.

The Spaniard plays as a defensive midfielder. In a game where they could be considered the underdogs, being attacked heavily by Rochdale is probably on the cards.

This will give Pozo a perfect opportunity to prove his defensive skills. Putting himself in the mind of Guardiola, as someone who could one-day rival Rodri for his defensive midfield position.

These 2 Rochdale youngsters are guaranteed to cause Man City u23s problems

Rochdale has had an average start to the season, but certain performances from certain players show that they can cause their opponents an issue or two on their day…

Rochdale have won two, drawn three and lost one league game in EFL League One so far, leaving them in eleventh place. With regards to Rochdale’s usual form, things are actually on the up in Rochdale this season.

When The Dale beat Bolton 5-2 in the Football League Trophy, the weakness of their opponent doesn’t give much insight as to how Rochdale will cope with the competition.

However, some performances from their young players have given an insight as to what Rochdale could offer this season. These 2 youngsters, in particular, could see them surpass Man City u23s in the next round of the Football League Trophy…

Callum Camps

This 23-year-old local lad striker will be keen to put in a good performance against Man City u23s. He has 2 goals and 3 assists in 6 games so far in League One and is fast becoming one of competition’s most prolific forwards.

Aaron Morley

Morley, who is only 19, has become a first-choice midfielder for Barry-Murphy’s side. He has featured in 5 league games, scoring 2 goals and putting in some fantastic performances.

With Morley in the middle of the park and Camps up top, Rochdale’s attacking threat could be brutal over the coming years should they keep hold of these talents. Should they both feature against Man City u23s, they will most certainly cause their fellow footballing youngsters some serious problems.
