‘At least we know who can save the day if this happens again.’ Man City fans react to Kyle Walker

Drama unfolded last night in Man City’s Champions League clash with Atalanta. Kyle Walker ended up in goal and here are your reactions.

There was a lot of drama in last nights clash. Man City went 1-0 up after 7 minutes with a goal from Raheem Sterling.

Things were going well until Man City got a penalty but Jesus couldn’t find the back of the net. Then Atalanta equalised in the second half.

At half time, every Man City fan and staff member was worried as Ederson had to go off and be replaced by Claudio Bravo.

So not only was Bravo in the net for the Atalanta goal, he also brought down a player in the box and got sent off.

This meant that defender, Kyle Walker had to put on a goal keeper’s shirt and take a new role. Here’s your reactions to that and his free kick save…

Two in, two out for Man City tonight against Atalanta

Man City play Atalanta in the Champions League tonight. The Football Manc Cave are picking 2 players who deserve to be in the starting 11. We are also picking two who should be dropped.

Pep Guardiola seems to have been working hard with his team in the international break.

Concerns were raised when losses to teams like Wolves and Norwich happened earlier this season. They won 2-0 against Crystal Palace at the weekend and it looks like there’s improvements.

However, some players still need to work a little harder to match Guardiola’s standards. Here’s 2 who should be in and 2 who should be out of the squad tonight…

Out: Jesus

I know that some Man City fans may disagree with this one. He did score at the weekend.

However, after the game, a lot of fans said that he was greedy throughout the game. There were times when he should have passed in order to create more chances but he didn’t.

Man City work as a team. He doesn’t seem to appreciate that at the minute.

Out: Otamendi

Guardiola made a decision to change things up against Crystal Palace. He didn’t play Otamendi.

Fans were happy with the decision as his form has been one of the worst in the squads. Man City performed better without him and that’s why he shouldn’t be in the squad again tonight.

There’s a lot of good things to mention coming out of the Man City squad. For example, Ederson had a great game at the weekend. Phil Foden got some minutes and people believe Eric Garcia should get a chance tonight.

However, while things are working, Pep should keep it that way.

In: Aguero

Sergio Aguero is a man who appreciates teamwork. Fans believe that if he was in the position of Jesus against Crystal Palace, more goals would have happened.

Even if Aguero starts and gets replaced later on, Jesus needs to understand that being that greedy doesn’t win games.

In: Cancelo

When the team sheet went up at the weekend, fans were quick to realise that there were no centre backs in the squad.

Pep Guardiola’s plan clearly worked as the team looked a lot more solid. However, one player who coped with that change was Joao Cancelo. He should start again tonight.

‘Tell Man City admin that it is legal to give Ederson man of the match.’ Man City fans react to their win.

Man City has their first Premier League game since the international break this weekend. They faced Crystal Palace away. The Football Manc Cave look at your reactions.

Pep Guardiola had a chance to turn things around with the international break. It looks like whatever he worked on paid off as the Blues won 2-0.

David Silva and Jesus were to thank for the goals. Silva also took man of the match. Phil Foden also got some minutes as he came on to replace Kevin De Bruyne. Although, it was Ederson that impressed fans the most.

However, both goals came in the first half. This suggests that things took a step back in the second half but a win is a win.

With Liverpool drawing with Man United, this also closed the gap at the top. The Premier League champions could be on their way back to the top.

3 things Guardiola will be working on in Man City’s international break

Another international break is on its way to interrupt the Premier League. The Football Manc Cave is looking at what Man City will have to focus on in preparation for their next fixtures.

Man City haven’t had great form recently. Some may say that this international break couldn’t have come at a better time for them. Pep Guardiola will have his players working hard in training.

He will also be working hard behind the scenes to come up with plans for his squad members who will be away on international duty. Pep will be furious at the recent unexpected losses his side have faced.

These poor performances have meant that Liverpool has gone 8 points clear on top of the league. This is why plans need to be put in place for improvement and fast.

Here are 3 things I think he should be working on…

This is obvious. However, it’s also unfortunate for the Man City boss as he’s had to cope with injuries. Despite being low on options, he’s still put a defensive line up out every week.

The players he is picking, on paper, should be able to cope with the pressure. This isn’t the case and things need to change at the back. It isn’t even down to particular players. It comes down to communication and teamwork.

Whenever Wolves managed to break, there was no plan. Defenders were too far down the pitch and were having to scramble back into position. Too many players were chasing the same ball and it just didn’t look like the usual blues. The team need to work on this.

Defensive Midfielders

Something that Pep Guardiola is good at is having versatile players. He’s got a few players who can adapt to being defensive in the middle rather than always attacking.

Two players who had to try and adapt to this against Wolves were Rodri and Gundogan. Although they tried, they need some more training. Pep should be working on his defence and midfielders working together and communicating.

The absolute last thing that Man City need now is any player suspensions. Especially in defence. However, if Pep doesn’t work closely with his players, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

When the squad faced Wolves, 5 players ended up with yellow cards. Ederson, Fernandinho, Cancelo, Gundogen and Rodri were all penalised. This is really concerning. Especially with most of these being defenders.

The Man City boss can fix this by working on cleaner and better-timed challenges. He can also work on the pressure as it looks like most players are tackling badly out of frustration.

I’m sure the boss has more plans up his sleeve for this international break. However, we will have to wait until it’s over to see if his plans are put into action.

2 Man City youngsters that will be looking to impress in this International break

The Football Manc Cave is looking at two Man City players who will be looking to have great international spells, in which they can impress Pep Guardiola and fans.

We will be seeing a break in the Premier League soon enough as it makes way for another international break. With how Man City’s recent form has been, there’ll be a few players looking to impress Guardiola during the break and it’s a great opportunity for some players to get some actual playing time.

The list of players out on duty is quite big and is on their website. While there’s talent from Ederson to Raheem Sterling, I’ve picked out two younger players who will be looking to be stand out names in their games…

Phil Foden

Pep Guardiola rates Foden very high and says he’s one of the best players he’s ever seen. Fans have been quite confused to why he doesn’t get more opportunities if this is the case.

However, his injuries have kept him out. He’s now fit again and a few weeks ago he got a chance to play against Preston in the Carabao Cup. While City won the game, fans were still talking about him and saying he wasn’t as impressive as they expected.

It’s a bit harsh considering he’s been out but this is the reason why he’s in this list. The pressure will be on him and he will be looking to have a great international spell. You can catch him in action for England Under 21’s against Slovenia and Austria.

Eric Garcia

With City’s defence looking weak, Garcia is one of the most promising players that they have got in their development squad. He was another player who got a chance to show his capability against Preston and even came out with some of the highest player ratings from most critics.

He will be looking to impress in this international break and try to show Pep Guardiola that he deserves a chance in the first-team squad. You can see him in action for Spain Under 21’s against Germany and Montenegro.

One more player to look out for is Taylor Harwood-Bellis who will be in action against France and Belgium for England’s under 19’s.

‘Ederson literally carried us today, Defence looked dodgy at times’ Some Man City fans weren’t happy today

Man City victory over Bournemouth seen the Citizens climb to second in the Premier League amid another controversial VAR decision.

David Silva stole the show on his 400th appearance for Man City, showing what a miss he will come next season. With an 89.8% pass completion rate, 2 assists and not one backwards pass all game. Pep will have to spend big or hope he has someone within the ranks who can fill such a big hole that will be left once the Spaniard leaves the Etihad after 10 years.

Pep in his post-match comments heaped further praise on the midfielder, by stating he is “one of the best” players he has ever worked with.

However, not all fans were impressed…

Despite another VAR decision going against them, other fans were happy with the 3-1 win over, what is always a tough Bournemouth team to face.

3 players Man City need to shift before the Euro window closes

The Euro transfer window is still open and the Football Manc Cave are looking at 3 players Man City could get rid of or loan.

Pep Guardiola is a man who knows exactly what he wants and sometimes he wants to sign players and not use them, or at least not straight away. With Leroy Sané out injures at the minute, last weeks game made fans wonder who was going to replace him and Guardiola is a man with many options.

With a solid team consisting of Ederson, Walker, Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Jesus and many more, it leaves a bunch of others wanting playing time. Man City are known to sign players, build them up, add to their value and then sell or sometimes refuse to sell them.

With this in mind, here are three options of players that could be used somewhere else to gain some experience…

Daniel Grimshaw

When Claudio Bravo got injured last year, Grimshaw was the first in line to replace him. He’s a life long Man City fan and has played for the club since he was 9. Coming through the youth and development ranks, he’s clearly happy to be in a Man City shirt.

However, with Ederson being the main option, Bravo second and the arrival of Scott Carson on loan. This may be the perfect time to get him some experience from another club and Man City’s links with clubs abroad may help with that. That way he could come back motivated, determined and ready to step up.

Benjamin Mendy

The French 25-year-old only made 10 appearances for Man City last season. He has been undergoing surgery for a knee injury recently which will put him in a hard position when it comes to getting back into the squad. Pep Guardiola has apparently told him what he will need to do to get back into the squad, as he returned to training this week although it could be a possibility that he gets loaned out to another club who could make use of him maybe as a substitute.

His fitness won’t be up to scratch right now especially when defenders are needed to be in top condition for the champions. Hopefully, this will solve his recovery and he can arrive back at the Etihad better than ever.

Ryotaro Meshino

The 21-year-old only signed for Man City this month, however, he’s used to Japanese football and could benefit from going elsewhere to gain some experience. He has also been linked with a move to Hearts on a loan deal if it can officially go through. This is something Pep Guardiola’s team is known for doing. Signing a player, sending them out on loan and then taking them back when they’re ready. Meshino will be perfect for this whether it be Hearts or somewhere else, they should make this happen.

Two things Man City have learnt from their friendlies – Agree?

Man City have had a pre-season tour of Asia and despite losing in the Premier League Asia Trophy final to Wolves, The Football Manc Cave look at what Pep Guardiola and his team have learnt ahead of the season.

Man City got all the way to the final of the friendly competition only to lose on penalties, 3-2. Some players like Aguero and Ederson weren’t available in these friendlies as their summer commitments meant they had to start their summer break later than others. This gave other players a chance to shine and Pep Guardiola a chance to weigh up his options ahead of next season.

So what have the Blues learnt?

Vincent Kompany’s departure from the club at the end of last season left the captain role vacant. This pre-season campaign has given the players and Pep Guardiola an experimental chance to see who fits the bill best. Guardiola has given David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne the chance to wear the armband in these games.

He has also recently stated that the players will choose who will be their new leader. It has got to go to Silva for his final season with the club. De Bruyne started the game against Wolves as captain and was subbed later in the game, they went on to lose. However, David Silva was the captain in a recent friendly against Kitchee FC where they won 6-1. The only problem with this is when Silva does depart the club, it will leave them looking for another new captain again.

These friendlies have also shown fans and the team that they have a lot of back up options. As stated at the beginning of this article, key players like Ederson and Aguero were not available for these games yet Man City have still had a good run. They’ve obviously got new signings like Rodri and Angeliño who will be exciting options ahead of next season but they’ve also got Leroy Sané.

He’s impressed and even managed to score a few in the pre-season, meaning he’s willing and ready to prove himself to Pep Guardiola and the footballing world. There’s been a lot of gossip about him this transfer window and I think he’s trying to show that he wants to stay with the Manchester side.

Man City’s starting 11 tomorrow against West Ham Utd should look like this

Manchester City will face West Ham in the Semi-Final of the Premier League Asia Trophy tomorrow at 13.30pm. How could their starting eleven look?

West Ham opened their pre-season matches with a 3-2 win against Rheindorf Altach, however, this clash will be Man City’s first fixture since the FA Cup final almost two months ago. The winner of this competition will face Newcastle United or Wolverhampton Wanderers.

West Ham United is also Pep Guardiola’s first game of the Premier League season, although the starting line up may be very different. Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Otamendi are both missing for Man City this week following their exertions for Argentina at the Copa America. Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho And Ederson are all missing for the same reason. Riyad Mahrez has been in action for Algeria at the African Cup of Nations. Benjamin Mandy misses out to injury and Phil Foden is also not with the current squad as he is representing England’s under 21’s.

So with the players that this list leaves and the fact that Rodri has flown with the team to hopefully play, here’s the Football Manc Cave’s prediction for Man City’s starting 11.

Man City line up

Bravo will be looking to make an appearance after Ederson’s absence has been made apparent. Stones will be looking to impress as he fills in the hole that Vincent Kompany has left. Rodri may start as everyone is excited to see him in action, not just the fans but the team and management. This will give everyone a taste of what he’s capable of. With Aguero’s absence, Sterling will be raring to go.

It’s a hard pick for a team with so many players missing. This, however, does give a lot of players the chance to prove to Guardiola that they deserve a chance. Not only players that have been benched last season and not been the first pick, but also the new signings. Rodri should get his first start and it will give everyone a glimpse of how he fits in that middle line up.

How Man City’s starting 11 could look against West Ham Utd

Pep Guardiola has been on a mini spending spree this summer with Man City bringing in a couple of new faces.

The back to back Premier League Champions have added a sprinkle of freshness in this summer transfer window. Which will be much needed as they aim to go for three titles in a row.

It all kicks off on August 10th against West Ham United. The Football Manc Cave takes a stab at the starting line up come 12:30…

Ederson is the obvious choice of ‘keeper but then it gets tricky. With Vincent Kompany’s departure at the end of last season, Man City have been on the lookout for a replacement so choosing the back four was a little difficult. However, I’ve gone with Kyle Walker, John Stones, Laporte and new signing, Angelino. Who has only just signed to the Manchester side again after spending some of his youth at the club.

Guardiola has a list of players to choose from when it comes to his midfield. Following his recent record-breaking signing, Rodri, it didn’t make the choices any easier. So Bernando Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva all should be able to help Rodri fit right into that midfield line up.

I have then gone with Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling because, why wouldn’t you? That was probably the easiest part of the pick.

David Silva has stated how this may be his last season with the Manchester side so he has to be a big part of this squad. Not only will fans want to see him have an amazing climax with the club, but I’m also sure people are hoping that Rodri could learn a lot from him enough to fill his shoes.

I’ve generated this team with real-time signings. However, this transfer window has been no stranger to twists and turns as Pep’s team have been looking at players such as Joao Cancelo and Harry Maguire too. If any more signings do happen for the Manchester City, I’m sure this starting eleven will shift again although, for the time being, there are players like Delph and Zinchenko who can be back up plans.
