Does Raheem Sterling want to be Man City’s main striker?

Man City’s 5-0 victory over West Ham saw Sterling get a hattrick on an opening day. By the looks of it, there’s plenty more to see from him…

Guardiola himself has said that being a striker would be an incredible position for Sterling. Understandable, seeing as he has scored a minimum of a goal per game since the beginning of Man City’s pre-season tour.

Gabriel Jesus is beginning to see more game time as Sergio Aguero reaches the latter stages of his career at 34 years old. But it looks as though Sterling is the one keen on filling the Argentine’s boots in becoming Man City’s goal scorer.

Upon Man City receiving a penalty against West Ham, Sterling and Aguero had to debate who took it.

This demonstrates how highly Sterling believes his impact is on the squad, to challenge a figure like Aguero. His behavior, motivation, and determination show a player itching to be in thoughts of the manager, for some reason or other.

In this case, it appears that Sterling wants to be the main man at Manchester City.

The English international has been pivotal to Man City’s recent back-to-back Premier League title. Finishing second top goal scorer in both seasons, with a total of 48 goals across the two, he will be looking to take up a notch this season.

What will be different about his game this season?

Many forget that he is only 24-years of age, and it is common for wingers to develop into magnificent strikers. Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi to name a few.

Come Christmas-time and Raheem Sterling is miles ahead of Aguero and Jesus on goals will we see him become the main man up front? What would come of Jesus and who would play on the wing instead?

Sterling has become increasingly clinical in front of goal over recent months and seasons. It is evident that he wants to score goals in and around the box for Manchester City.

We could see Guardiola give him these opportunities this season should he continue bagging goals in this fashion. Let’s just hope he can do it for England.

One to Watch: Man City Sign Portuguese Wonderkid

The Daily Mail has reported how Manchester City have signed an 18-year-old winger from Sporting Lisbon. The Football Manc Cave take a closer look.

Felix Correia has decided to join the blues from Sporting Lisbon, and it’s believed that the league champions will pay £3.2 million upfront for him. He’s managed to impress some of the biggest clubs this summer and has gained interest from all over Europe. However, Pep Guardiola’s side has obviously offered him the most appealing move and why wouldn’t you go to Man City at that age?

Sporting Lisbon has wished him all the best and ‘professional happiness’ ahead of his move. The teenager is yet to experience first-team football so when there is confirmation of his apparent 5-year deal, it’s also expected that he will be going on a loan straight away.

Correia shone for Portugal’s Under 19’s in the European Championships last month when he managed to reach the final with his side, only to lose 2-0 to Spain. It was in that time that clubs all over Europe had their eye him and he managed to impress.

This transfer to Man City is now being compared to the move that Cristiano Ronaldo made to Man United 16 years ago. Ronaldo was also 18 years old when he made the move to Manchester. Fans and pundits are claiming that this transfer will shadow the move that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner made.

These claims will be cleared up when he’s seen in action whether that be for Man City or with whoever he goes on loan to. It sounds like he’s got a bright future ahead of him in the footballing world.

Two Leroy Sane replacements for Man City should he move to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich is still set on signing Man City’s Leroy Sane, here’s who Guardiola should replace him with.

According to reports, Leroy Sane, 23, is close to a move to Bayern Munich, despite no official bid being made as of yet. The reason for the move, apparently, is due to a lack of game time given to the young winger.

With Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva being the favourites to occupy the wings, it has left little room for Sane to grow and improve the way he wants to. As a result, it is clear that the German is happy to move away from the Etihad.

Guardiola will have to find suitable quality that will also be happy to receive a similar amount of game time to Leroy Sane. Here are two options that the Blues have…

Gareth Bale

It is clear that Zidane is keen on offloading Gareth Bale from Real Madrid. Alongside Leroy Sane being unhappy with game time. It may not be a stretch to see Bale join the Citizens, and happily sit on the bench or appear in lesser threat games next season. The Welshman’s future has been up in the air all summer but may depend on the future locations of other stars before a suitable deal can be made.

Bale, despite being of the greatest players in European football, could be seeking a loan deal which allows his wages to split between his parent club. Real Madrid and whichever temporary club he finds himself at should he leave.

Paulo Dybala

The 25-year-old Argentine was one of the world’s most sought after youngsters only a few years ago. However, he hasn’t lived up to all expectations so far, especially after being shoehorned out of the side as Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus last summer.

Dybala has established himself as a number 10, attacking-midfielder. However, he could be reworked as an inverted winger in Manchester City’s squad, possibly allowing him to reach that potential.

Twitter reacts: ‘Man United signing Harry Maguire is a move that will greatly benefit the club’

Leicester City’s Harry Maguire to Manchester United deal is looking more realistic by the day, and here is what the fans think about it

Social Media and modern football don’t always mix well, as millions upon millions of fans throw their opinions at the wall. Today, The Football Manc Cave will delve into Twitter and pull out some of those fan opinions, which give a general feeling about how people feel about Harry Maguire to Manchester United.

According to reports, Maguire will be fetching £80million for the move from Leicester City, a world-record transfer fee for a defender. Interestingly a similar figure Real Madrid paid for the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo.

A select few are displeased with the huge sum of money for Maguire’s services.

In recent seasons, Manchester United’s defence has been a source of negativity for the red devils. As a result, fans have pointed the finger at the likes of Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and Nemanja Matic as they believe these players are incapable of keeping up with the force of Premier League attackers.

Some fans believe the figure of £80million is far too high for the English centre-back. However, other fans feel that the fee doesn’t matter as Maguire will improve the ever-failing Man Utd defence.

Solskjaer to ask Pogba to do a Ronaldo for Man Utd?

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will plead with Paul Pogba to remain at the club for another season according to the Daily Mail this week.

As the quality of Manchester United slowly fades away, the pride and integrity follow suit. In a move reminiscent of Sir Alex Ferguson with Cristiano Ronaldo, Solskjaer is following suit. However, this time around it’s a completely different situation.

Paul Pogba has publicly humiliated his employers after telling a Japanese news source that he is looking to seek a “new challenge” whilst on his Asian tour. His agent Mino Raiola also made several comments about a matter that should have been dealt with in-house.

The World Cup winner is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents of modern football. But following his second spell at the club since 2016, there have merely been glimpses of excellence. Whilst the likes of Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne provides glimpses of excellence every other minute on the pitch.

However, as Ed Woodward reaps the rewards of Pogba being an Adidas ambassador and a major shirt seller. He is set and ready to throw the pride of the club down the gutter to keep an unhappy and under-performing Paul Pogba, in order to maintain relationships with their sponsors.

Round in circles?

A similar case happened many moons ago, back when Manchester United was at the top of world football with Cristiano Ronaldo. He was linked with a move to Real Madrid, but held off for a season whilst Manchester United put plans in place for his replacement; Gabriel Obertan, remember him? Probably not. Obertan currently plays for Erzurumspor in Turkey, the man he was meant to replace is now considered the world’s best footballer at 34 years of age for one of Europe’s most elite clubs; Juventus.

This lacklustre and last-minute approach to planning the future of the club is why Manchester United are now a club fighting for a top 5 position.

Manchester City has recently signed Rodri for £62million, a class midfielder from Atletico Madrid. The planning behind this signing is to replace Fernandinho with him after the next season or two where Fernandinho will still be one of the best midfielders in the league.

Manchester United are still yet to replace Ander Herrara and Fellaini.

Nay, Manchester United are still yet to replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic!

What’s the best outcome of this dilemma?

The general consensus is that fans would let Paul Pogba leave. Then use the funds to strengthen the entirety of the squad. Unfortunately for them, fans and chief officers have different goals, success on the pitch and brand names on the shirt, respectively.

In a recent press conference in Australia, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that Pogba is a ‘professional’ with ‘a heart of gold’, which is a believable statement.

However, Solskjaer also claimed that there is a social media ‘agenda’ against Paul Pogba, which divides opinion as Pogba has been questionable in his methods of seeking a ‘new challenge’. On the other hand, some outlets have falsely reported a fight between the Frenchman and teammate Jesse Lingard, despite the full video showing the two were plainly joking.

Pogba is well within his rights to seek playing time with a more advanced football team. It is best for both parties to split ways, as the number 6 won’t receive a warm welcome from the local fans back in Manchester.

Man City need to look at these 2 Sane replacements should he move

Leroy Sane is a quality, young talent who feels as though he deserves more play time at the Etihad, and is, therefore, seeking a move away. But who can Man City replace him within this transfer window?

Sane finished his 18/19 season with 16 goals and 18 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. He made the majority of marks on games by coming off the bench.

However, Sane doesn’t want to be associated with the ‘super-sub’ status. Despite having a great effect when bringing on his blistering pace against a tired defence towards the end of games.

Bayern Munich is in the race for Leroy Sane, Man City have set their price 100m. Should they obtain his services, they would end their pursuit for young Chelsea man Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to Mirror.

With 100m in the bank. The Citizens could be looking at at least one of the two players below…

Jadon Sancho

Close your ears, Man United fans. Should Sane bring in a £100million budget increase, Manchester City wouldn’t tip-toe around a big money signing the way Manchester United do. As proven by how the blues simply paid the £62million release clause for Rodri from Atletico Madrid.

Sancho is undoubtedly one of the greatest prospects in world football. With Manchester City’s phenomenal business structure, there is no doubt that Sancho is on their radar. This would generate further competition for Sterling and Bernardo Silva, driving Manchester City to have the best wingers in English football, or potentially world football.

Douglas Costa

Costa, the 28-year-old Brazilian winger for Juventus, is a fantastically pacey and dangerous winger. He has been shunned since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and has suffered a massive decrease in playing time. Should he replace Leroy Sane as an ‘off-the-bench’ winger at a potentially increased wage, it would make sense for the Brazilian to have little qualms about the deal.

2 Arsenal replacements for Ozil they must look at – Agree?

Mesut Ozil has been linked with Turkish side Fenerbahce, and the funds they would receive could be a huge turning point in Arsenal’s transfer window.

Arsenal has been plagued with a £45million budget for Unai Emery to make amendments to his squad this summer. This means that offloading players in order to bring in players could result in a hectic transfer window for the Gunners.

Last season, Ozil made 35 appearances under new manager Emery. Compared to the similarly regarded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who made 51 appearances, in all competitions.

Ozil has fallen out of favour with both the manager and the fans, and as the midfielder edges towards 31 years old, he may well be looking for a big move away. However, in the current financial state of Turkish football teams, it is unlikely that any could afford his £350,000 per week wage, unless the German humbly accepts a wage decrease.

With two years left on his contract, Ozil could rake in upwards of a £30million budget increase, and there are two potential replacements for Arsenal to spend that money on…

James Maddison

After being linked with Manchester United, it is unlikely that this young Englishman will join them after the heated interaction between themselves and his teammate Harry Maguire. It has been confirmed that Leicester City has obtained the services of Youri Tielemans, meaning the availability of Maddison may well have increased.

This attacking-midfielder had a breakthrough season in the recent campaign. Creating 100 chances in the Premier League, more than any other player in the competition.

Paulo Dybala

This option may seem too lucrative. However, Dybala became frustrated at Juventus after the introduction of the greatest player in the world; Cristiano Ronaldo.

His current worth stands at around £76million as rated by Transfermarkt, which may mean he could be the only big signing Arsenal can bring in this summer. But with regards to shirt sales and performances on the pitch, there is a lot he could offer the Gunners in the place of the work-shy Mesut Ozil.

HOT PROSPECT: Man Utd battle it out for 15 y/o striker

The top dogs of Europe all want Mathis Rayan Cherki’s signature after proving to be one for the future with his current club Lyon.

Manchester United don’t usually chase worldwide talents who make headlines, as they prefer to bring players through the youth setup. The exceptions are the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Tahith Chong.

However, Cherki has proven himself in Lyon’s youth set-up. Becoming the youngest ever play to score in the UEFA Youth League, as he got the French side’s only goal in a 4-1 defeat to Man City under 19s. He can play on either wing, attacking midfield, or even up front. The versatility of younger players promises advantages in terms of rotation and the unpredictability of tactical approaches.

Manchester United have been linked to several Lyon players, including Ndombele, Moussa Dembele and Nabil Fekir. The reds may see a running theme in Lyon’s ability to scout fantastic talent. With the three aforementioned players looking unlikely to join United, they may have set their sights on Cherki as they look to steal talents from the French side.

It is rumoured that clubs such as Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are keen on signing the youngster. Meaning that Manchester United would have to entice the young Frenchman with a very tempting deal, possibly breaking their record for signing a scholarship player.

In the midst of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rebuild of Manchester United. It appears he is looking to the future, as the majority of rumours around the club’s transfer targets tend to revolve around younger players, such as Cherki, Daniel James, Wan-Bissaka, David Brooks, Sean Longstaff etc.

Cherki can sign a professional deal for any of these interested clubs after he turns 16 on August 17, 2019. The then 16-year-old would surely prosper surrounded by the likes of Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong in the Manchester United youth.

Man Utd linked to Bournemouth’s David Brooks, can he bring what’s missing with him

As a Lukaku-shaped door closes, a David Brooks shaped door opens!

According to reports the £75million striker Romelu Lukaku is looking to exit Manchester United after falling out of Solskjaer’s favour, as he prefers to use the homegrown Marcus Rashford in the number 9 role.

Lukaku is heavily pushing for a move as he tells Manchester United that he wants to leave the club by July 7th 2019.

As a result, Solskjaer has his eyes on the Welsh 21-year-old attacking-midfielder from Bournemouth, David Brooks, who is rumoured to be worth around £50million. This could suggest multiple things, however, it is likely that Brooks will be used in the number 10 role or right-wing position, as this is where he has been playing if his name has ended up on the score sheet.

With 7 goals and 5 assists in his first ever Premier League season, it is clear that his talent and potential has not gone unnoticed. With Manchester United struggling to create goals last season, Brooks could be the answer to this everlasting dilemma.

David Brooks also fits the culture that Solskjaer is bringing into his new Manchester United, he is British, young, promising and desperate to prove himself at a high level. A similar case for the likes of Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, Dean Henderson, Angel Gomes, Axel Tuanzebe etc.

Many Manchester United fans may be displeased that big names such as Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and David De Gea are at the brink of leaving the club, and lesser-known talents such as James and Brooks looking to be brought in. However, many must remember that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea, Nani, Ryan Giggs, Rafael Da Silva and many more were unknown talents before making a name for themselves at Old Trafford.

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, it seems as though the identity of Manchester United has been lost, and with Solskjaer’s recent inquiries, it is clear that he has an image in mind of what this Man United team should look like. Therefore, fans should be excited about this rebuild, as it can’t be much worse than the lifeless, disappointing and dull team which they have been subjected to for the past 6 years.

Bernardo Silva: Ballon d’Or Favourite After Exceptional Season?

After winning the UEFA Nations League player of the tournament, could Bernardo Silva be in the running for the Ballon d’Or award?

It would be fair to say that Silva has had a remarkable season, he’s won three trophies with Man City and now been a part of the winning Nations League team. However, the Premier League have overlooked the 24-year-old and have shown to be more in favour of Sterling’s efforts and Van Dijk.

It is now being discussed to who will win this year’s Ballon d’Or award and understandably, Silva’s name is in the mix.

Virgil Van Dijk is set to be favourite to win the award after his impressive season and a Champions League win. Lionel Messi is also in the running, which is standard. Now that Silva is being recognised for his efforts, maybe the City star will earn another trophy for his collection.

When Bernardo won the Nations League player of the tournament, teammate Ronaldo didn’t seem too impressed, maybe he expected the award himself but if Silva also takes home the Ballon d’Or, how will 5-time winner Ronaldo take that news?

Personally, I think it’s about time a City player won the award as they have been looked over for years. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and even Leicester have all had more recognition from the French award officials than City have had in a decade.

The closest that a City player has been to take this award home was Kevin De Bruyne last year when he came in 9th place. So can Bernardo Silva set another City record by getting further up that list or even topping it? I really do hope so, I’m just not convinced that he will get as much of a look in as others, after he’s already won one award for his individual efforts this year and several team awards.
