Bernardo Silva: Ballon d’Or Favourite After Exceptional Season?

After winning the UEFA Nations League player of the tournament, could Bernardo Silva be in the running for the Ballon d’Or award?

It would be fair to say that Silva has had a remarkable season, he’s won three trophies with Man City and now been a part of the winning Nations League team. However, the Premier League have overlooked the 24-year-old and have shown to be more in favour of Sterling’s efforts and Van Dijk.

It is now being discussed to who will win this year’s Ballon d’Or award and understandably, Silva’s name is in the mix.

Virgil Van Dijk is set to be favourite to win the award after his impressive season and a Champions League win. Lionel Messi is also in the running, which is standard. Now that Silva is being recognised for his efforts, maybe the City star will earn another trophy for his collection.

When Bernardo won the Nations League player of the tournament, teammate Ronaldo didn’t seem too impressed, maybe he expected the award himself but if Silva also takes home the Ballon d’Or, how will 5-time winner Ronaldo take that news?

Personally, I think it’s about time a City player won the award as they have been looked over for years. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and even Leicester have all had more recognition from the French award officials than City have had in a decade.

The closest that a City player has been to take this award home was Kevin De Bruyne last year when he came in 9th place. So can Bernardo Silva set another City record by getting further up that list or even topping it? I really do hope so, I’m just not convinced that he will get as much of a look in as others, after he’s already won one award for his individual efforts this year and several team awards.

Man Utd fans React to ‘He’s Too God Damn Good’ Bruno Fernandes’ performance for Portugal

According to the Daily Star, Man United will announce the signing of Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes after the conclusion of Nations League 2019, with the fee rumoured to be around £62 million.

Fernandes and another proposed target for United, Joao Felix, both featured in Portugal’s 3-1 victory over Switzerland. Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick deserves a mention.

Dan James will be Solksjaer’s first summer signing, assuming he passes the planned medical. He will join United in a deal that could be worth up to £18 million. It’s looking like their transfer strategy is to sign young, hungry talent that will give everything to wear the famous red shirt. The bang opposite to Alexis Sanchez, basically.

The massive re-building process is underway, let’s see what United fans made of Fernandes’ performance last night…

It’s The Battle of Manchester as Man United Tussle With Man City Over Right Back Joao Cancelo

In a transfer window that we see everyone and everything linked to the two Manchester clubs, the latest is Joao Cancelo, the Juventus right-back.

Following the retirement of Antonio Valencia, United need to strengthen in that area, albeit Valencia didn’t show up much in his final season. Solskjaer has only Diogo Dalot to pick from at present and, Juventus’ Cancelo maybe the answer to the first part of the defensive conundrum he faces.

However, neighbours Man City, who seem to not be shy in the full-back areas, are also linked. It could see a tug of war between the clubs, much like the Alexis Sanchez saga. Which the red side won, as they splashed the cash, although United will be hoping for a better return of investment this time around.

Having only spent one season at the Old Lady, and winning the Serie A title in the process, Juve’s new man in charge may let the Portuguese defender go upon his arrival. Especially if he was to look to last season, as he failed to impress Allegri enough to hold down a regular starting spot.

However, after a great start to life in Italy following a move from Valencia, he seemed to fall off in the second half of the season and started to fall out of favour.

The only factor that could play a key role in the Manchester battle, is that of former red Cristiano Ronaldo, who would surely have only good things to say about his time at Old Trafford to his teammate.

With a reported 53m price tag on his head, United could see that as a decent deal, especially in today’s market. They need to spend big and well in the transfer market this summer, and Canelo could be a great signing.

Man United fans, what are your thoughts on Cancelo, good solid signing, or would you prefer someone else?

The Lowdown on Joao Felix as Man United Look To Secure His Signature

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to secure one of the hottest properties in Europe this Summer in Joao Felix.

Felix has been linked to Old Trafford, as the Red Devils look to bring in the freshest and hottest talent around. Solskjaer has a huge job rebuilding the squad this summer transfer, and the recruitment of Felix would certainly send a message of intent out.

Having a goal ratio of just under one in every two matches, the Benfica star has certainly caught the attention of many of the elite European clubs. Hence the reason United want to get the deal signed and done as quick as possible.

The 31.5m rated star can play in a variety of positions, however, his most prolific role is in front of goal as a forward where he has bagged 14 goals and seven assists in 20 games.

The Portuguese man’s strength is to hold on to the ball until the killer pass is ready, and is a big handful on the counter-attack – which would suit Solskjaer style of play.

There are no visible weaknesses for the 19-year-old but the glaring one is experience, which will come with age. Benfica has a rich history of youngsters coming through the ranks, and Felix is just another name to add to the list.

He is yet to make his international debut but, he has scored four goals in his ten appearances for Portuguese u21s.

This is all not bad, considering he only made his debut last August. Obviously, there have been many comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo, which is always going heighten the hype. Nevertheless, Felix has certainly put himself on the map this season and looks as if he could be one of Europe’s brightest talents.

Man United fans should get very excited if this lad moves to the Premier League, and is one to light up the stands at Old Trafford.
