Altrincham have won promotion to the National League following a 1-0 win over Boston United.

A Dan Mooney goal in the 64th minute was enough to clinch victory for the Robins as they return to the top tier of non-league football for the first time since 2016.

Their return to the National League is impressive on many levels and it’s been an incredible turnaround from Phil Parkinson’s men.

This season alone Alty found themselves down in a lowly 18th place at Christmas. In fact, they lost to Boston 5-0 at York Street back in August. Few would have predicted the Robins would end up avenging this defeat, at the same venue, with a play-off final win 11 months on.

Even fewer would surely have predicted such a turnaround following back to back relegations in 2016 and 2017. Two promotions, however, have seen Altrincham jump from the Evostick, to the National League, in just three years.

Congratulations to all involved at the club.
