‘See you soon Champions League’ Man Utd fans react to a 3rd place finish

Manchester United secured Champions League football with an edgy 2-0 victory against Leicester City on the final day of the season. Having spent the majority of the season in a top-four position, the Foxes needed to ensure victory to secure their place in the Champions League unless Chelsea were to lose against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

With so much on the line, the King Power Stadium witnessed a cagey affair with both teams going close to taking the lead. Leicester keeper Schmeichel saved well from Marcus Rashford, and top scorer Jamie Vardy saw his soaring header glance off the bar.

The game turned on the 71st minute when Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty after a clumsy challenge from defenders Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan.

Man United managed to hang on to the victory. The final few minutes were dominated by a red card to Jonny Evans after a dangerous lunge on Scott McTominay. Followed by substitute Jesse Lingard capitalising on a Schmeichel error, putting the ball in the back of the net in the 98th minute and the game out of sight.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Man United being back in the Champions League…
