Plymouth Argyle confirmed the signing of Callum McFadzean from Bury, making it their fourth signing from The Shakers this summer.
The Football Manc Cave are going to look at what the former Sheffield United defender will offer at Plymouth Argyle.
Ryan Lowe was promoted from League Two last season with Bury, after finishing second behind title winners Lincoln City. After a mountain of off-field problems, the entire starting 11 that started Bury’s final game of the 2018/19 campaign, has left the club. A torrid time for a club that should be preparing for a solid season in League One.
The 25-year-old was a pivotal part of Bury’s defence last season and has joined Danny Mayor, Will Aimson and Dom Telford in making the switch to Home Park.
McFadzean is predominantly a left-back, who can also operate at left-midfield. He offers versatility and leadership on the pitch. After loans at Sheffield United, Burton and Chesterfield, he has significant experience of playing in the EFL.
Most importantly, he, and the other three signings from Bury, sign after winning promotion last season. They can help to rejuvenate a depleted dressing room, as Plymouth were relegated last season. It’s vital you have players that are confident, have experienced winning big matches and tasting success. Lowe and his ex Bury stars have certainly had that.
Plymouth has bounced back positively since relegation. Rather than dwell on their failure, they’ve secured a highly-rated young, ambitious manager, and gave him the opportunity to rebuild a squad that can challenge for promotion back to League One next season. You have to trust him, he has done it last season. Why change something that isn’t broke? Just follow the blueprint of last season, and The Green Army will be challenging at the right end of the table come May.
