Man Utd need to prioritise 20y/o Premier League midfielder in January

With things at Old Trafford not going to plan, January can’t come soon enough for Man United. According to The Mirror, Declan Rice is someone who could be a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the transfer window opens again.

Manchester United fans would be happy with pretty much any signing that could improve their current form. Solskjaer is going to have a difficult time in January. The appeal for players to move to Old Trafford isn’t the same as it used to be.

There is no Champions League football, Premier League points are being scraped in and the current form is overall poor. Fortunately for the Man United boss, money in football is everything these days and money is something the reds have.

It’s the perfect time for the scouts at Man United to be making their list of priorities for the January transfer window. One of the rumoured players is West Ham’s Declan Rice.

West Ham

The Hammers have had a great start to the season. 20-year-old Declan Rice has been a stand out performer.

The young midfielder is an England international as well as a key part in Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

This is why he’s drawn attention to himself and teams like Man United are on his case. However, when January does come along, Solskjaer will have a very hard job on his hands.

Rice has spoken about the rumours and addressed the fact that he’s just signed a 5-year contract with West Ham. He thinks that the club is the best place for him at this time. He also wants to stay with current manager, Pellegrini.

Man United

There would have to be a lot of negotiations from Man United and probably a lot of money involved. Although it really doesn’t look like the 20-year-old will be convinced that a move to Old Trafford is the right thing to do.

Man United could really use his skill, style of play and determination. They could also benefit from his age. He’s got a long career ahead of him and experience will be key.

The football coming out of Old Trafford is not at the standard that fans expect. There are weaknesses in every area so any player that can be drafted in will be a success at this point. It’s just a shame for Man United that Rice seems to have his heart set on staying with West Ham.
