Man Utd looking to tie up 36m rated midfielder in January

Man Utd has quickly realised they need midfield reinforcements, and not strengthening the area in the summer window is now looking like a huge oversight.

However, they will have to wait till January now to bring in their preferred targets, which according to the Mirror is Leicester City’s, James Maddison. Many Man Utd fans would have welcomed the assist king with open arms going of his stats last year.

in 2850 minutes in the Premier League, Maddison scored seven, assisted seven, had an average of 2.8 key passes per game and 2.3 shots per game. Alongside this seasons 3 games, 2 assists and 75.4% pass completion, it seems the Leicester man is perfect for Solskjaer.

Rated 36m by Transfermarkt, Maddison seems a snip. However, when Man Utd come calling, the price often trebles. Especially after taking Maguire off their hands a few weeks ago.

The frustrating part with the window closing before the season starts is the wait to waiting to improve the squad. Solskjaer will have to make do for a few months and hope that Ed Woodward can sort these types of deals out in the background. The last thing Man United needs is to be waiting until the end of January for any deal to prevail.

Learn from your mistakes Woodward.

Man Utd fans, would you welcome Maddison?
