There are whispers of a move for Ryan Delaney as Portsmouth are apparently interested in the defender.
There hasn’t been a lot of information regarding the interest but if this is true, it could be a nice change for Delaney.
The 22-year-old defender is apparently marketed at the value of £90k so it wouldn’t be too much of an expense to Portsmouth. In my opinion, the best option for Delaney would probably be to go on loan rather than moving permanently. He’s not had a bad run at Rochdale and I think he’d be useful for another year. I think some Pompey fans may disagree but you could have worse in your back four.
In 30 appearances last season for Rochdale, Delaney managed to net one goal and get two assists. In the 2017/18 season, he also managed two goals. It’s not that bad for a defender. He also hasn’t been at too many other clubs so maybe by a loan, or if it comes to it, transferring to Portsmouth, it would be great for the 22-year-old.
Portsmouth have been linked with other transfer talks too such as Adam May interested in a loan move to Swindon. This is another reason why I say maybe Pompey should stick to loaning for the time being to see how their team develops and, if any loan looks promising, maybe they should look into transfer requests at the next window.
