Hyde Utd finished last season in 10th place of the Northern Premier League. But manager David McGurk will be looking to push for higher heights next season as two quality additions have been made to the side…
One big indication of this is the nature of the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Chinedu Uche, who has spent the beginning of his career with the Oldham Athletic Youth Academy. Having this on his CV is big news and is evidence towards this being a fantastic signing for Hyde United.
This youngster has featured in the EFL League Two for the not-so-far-away Oldham Athletic, leaving the club in October 2019 for some time away. It is noted that Uche hasn’t had it easy in football so far, as McGurk said: “it’s not quite worked out for him in his career so hopefully we can give him a platform here and help him move back up the leagues”.
Hyde recently drew 0-0 to Clitheroe in a pre-season match, where three trialists were featured. Uche is a strong and dominant midfielder who will certainly impact the game due to the nature of his central position.
Could Uche be a part of a new approach from Hyde Utd?
The Tigers made a second addition to the squad in the ex-Stafford Rangers man Jack Sherratt. Interestingly enough, Sherratt initially planned on joining Buxton despite talks between himself and McGurk. But ultimately decided to join the ex-Oldham Athletic man with Hyde United. The attacking midfielder said, “After meeting all the lads here and the gaffer it’s a top club and it’s something I want to be in involved in.”
