Only one club has ever won the Premier League three times in a row – Manchester United. This will still hold true by the end of this season.
Manchester United are the only team to win the Premier League three times in a row. They have done it twice. However, it’s unlikely that the Red Devils will see the top of the table for at least three years. So, who else can knock Man City off their Premier League pedestal?
Liverpool winning the Champions League last season took some of the sting out of Man City’s triumphant Premier League victory. Last season was a two-horse race between the Merseyside reds and the Manchester blues.
This season, Liverpool will be focusing on Premier League victory and Man City will be focusing on European glory.
This could result in Liverpool running away with the league title next season. Jurgen Klopp has creative a squad who can defeat Barcelona 4-0 at home, meaning they can beat absolutely anyone.
The high they felt last season from lifting the Champions League trophy will be continued into this season. Though Liverpool has had a poor pre-season this summer, it is unlikely to follow into the campaign.
Same old City?
Man City have not kept up with their run of huge summer signings and building the squad, indicating that Pep Guardiola feels his squad is close to completion. However, this could very easily result in other Premier League teams figuring the Citizens out, as they have seen a very similar squad hit the green over the previous two seasons.
With regards to this concept, teams across Europe are yet to see the power of Man City, which could explain why an English team (Spurs) knocked them out of the Champions League last season.
Predictions for next season are that Liverpool will run away with the Premier League title whilst Man City have a real run at Champions League glory.
