Forget Mandzukic: Here’s 2 other strikers Man Utd should go for

According to The Express, Man United have made a verbal agreement with Juventus striker, Mario Mandzukic. It looks like Solskjaer’s first recruitment for the January transfer window has been made.

Juventus have basically told Mario Mandzukic that he won’t be in the squad plans for the remainder of this season. This has left him looking for another club.

It now looks like a deal worth around £10 million could be made to bring him to Old Trafford. It’s quite a clever move by Solskjaer to go for a player looking for a new home. Especially months before the transfer window opens.

However, the Juventus striker is now 33 and never had Premier League experience. While he might drive younger teammates forward at Man United, his career might be coming to an end.

This is why we’ve picked out two more strikers who could be more effective at Old Trafford.

Aleksandr Sobolev

The 22-year-old striker would be a younger and cheaper option. He currently plays for KS Samara.

It would cost Man United around £1.8 million (according to Transfermarkt) to bring him into their squad. The striker has scored 10 goals in 13 appearances for the Russian side.

However, his impressive form has got other clubs interested in him. This will mean that Man United would have to move fast.

Donyell Malen

The 20-year-old is one of Holland’s hottest prospects. He has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances for PSV Eindhoven so far this season.

He is currently valued at around £16.2 million on Transfermarkt. Some may recognise his name, as he used to be in the Arsenal squad. However, a move back to a Premier League side may be easier for him than it would be for others.

Again, Man United would have to act fast because he is a wanted man by other teams. This includes Liverpool. It also includes his old club, Arsenal, who both see the potential.
