Another English youngster is linked with a move away to one of Europe’s most elite clubs.
Dwight McNeil is a 19-year-old Englishman from Rochdale, who played in 21 games for The Clarets in the 18/19 Premier League season. McNeil made the most of the trust given to him by Sean Dyche as he clinched three goals and five assists, as well as making a name for himself. Last season was his breakthrough season.
Now, in summer of 2019, Juventus have taken a keen interest in him after some fantastic performances for England’s under-20s. The Italian giants will wait until August to pursue the speedy winger as he can further demonstrate his skills during pre-season.
McNeil could follow the likes of Jadon Sancho, who left Manchester City to play in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. Becoming their star player and would now surely walk through the doors of any club in the world. Sancho cost Dortmund £8million at the age of 17.
However, Sean Dyche is holding out for approximately £30million for McNeil, as the likes of Juventus and Spurs are sniffing around the Englishman.
McNeil has a contract at Burnley until 2023, with the option to extend for a year. He is a bright and blooming talent at Turf Moor, hence the hefty price tag. Furthermore, such a price tag could be a huge overestimation, purposely employed as a method to keep the wonderkid at the club.
Should he remain with Sean Dyche’s men for another season, the Premier League fans would be grateful that such a talent will be on our screens for a further year. Burnley fans, however, will be ecstatic.
