Bristol City fans have had a lot to keep up with the past few days with transfer gossip and the most recent comes in the form of Tomas Kalas.
The Robins’ fans have probably already heard that defender, Adam Webster has had interest from Aston Villa. Bristol rejected a £12 million offer from Villa as they made it clear that their asking price is £30 million. However, talks have continued and now they could be negotiating a fee somewhere in between £20 million to £25 million. It’s clear that City doesn’t want him to leave but at the same time, they don’t want to hold him back.
So, if this deal does go ahead, Bristol will need a replacement and that is Kalas following last nights confirmed transfer. The 26-year-old defender spent last season on loan to Bristol from Chelsea. He’s had quite a few loan spells while being signed to the blues, but it’s looking like Bristol City have managed to convince him that he needs a change.
Tomas is actually Chelsea’s longest-serving player after 9 years with the club. Even though he’s been with them nearly long enough to have his testimonial, he’s only had four appearances with the clubs first team. He’s been around a lot and had spells with Middlesbrough and Fulham before he spent last season with the Robins.
After 38 games for Bristol last season, their fans have taken a liking to him and over the summer, they’ve been questioning his future. He’s been documenting his travels on Instagram the past few weeks, and fans have been bombarding his posts trying to lure him back to Ashton Gate. It’s looking like it’s helped, with the permanent deal to Bristol announced.
The defender will break records for the Robins becoming their highest-paid player and has smashed a transfer record for the club. It’s looking around the £8 million mark plus fees.
