Arsenal’s David Luiz: ‘I’d like to apologise…to absolutely no-one’ following Man City defeat

The Premier League is back and Man City made their first post-COVID match look easy with a 3-0 win over Arsenal.

Manchester City denied Liverpool winning the league at the Merseyside derby by breezing past 10 men Arsenal.

David Luiz had an eventful first game back.

Former Chelsea and PSG defender Luiz had a Royal Rumble Bushwhacker Luke-esq impact as he entered the match in the 24th minute.

Twenty minutes late, Luiz’s mistake let Raheem Sterling in to make the score 1-0 just before half time. Whilst he sucked on his oranges in the away dressing room, the Brazilian plotted to upstage himself in the second half of his opening show cameo.

Four minutes into the second half, Luiz brought down Mahrez inside the box to not only concede a penalty but get himself sent off in the process.

Whilst rinsing all of Man City’s hot water in his bath. The home side sealed the win with Phil Foden being in the right spot, as the ball bounced off the post following a great move.

Piers Morgan was clearly as impressed as we were with Luiz’ performance…

Man City close the gap to 22 points to Liverpool in what is looking like a tense end to the season. Meanwhile, Arsenal slum it in midtable and look like a team in disarray.

Following the match, Luiz came out to take full responsibility for the defeat, while talking up a potential new contract offer at the Gunners. On the back of that performance – how could they not give him a few more years!?

Twitter as always was a goldmine for reaction…
