…and, breathe! Altrincham make it past the first Play-Off hurdle

Altrincham Football Club held on to ensure victory in a dramatic win against Chester on Sunday setting up a semi-final clash with York City this coming Saturday.

The Robins took a three-goal lead thanks to a goal from Josh Hancock and a brace from free-scoring Elliott Durrell. A red card for former Altrincham player John Johnston meant that the visitors were reduced to 10 men, with success to the semi-finals never looking in doubt for the home team.

However, two goals from the Seals in the final 30 minutes led to a dramatic conclusion. However, Altrincham hung on to ensure that their dream of promotion continues.

Altrincham may have had to play an additional game in this last race for promotion to the National League, however, it could turn in their favour. Alty now have rid of the ‘ring rust’ and are a step ahead of both their semi final oppenents and hopefully their final opposition.

Altrincham are the dark horses in these play-offs.
