Salford City have made a shrewd move in the transfer market today by adding Ian Henderson to their ranks.
The former Rochdale captain left Spotland earlier this year as their second-highest goalscorer, after notching up 126 goals for Dale. Henderson ended a seven and a half year association with the club, in which he won promotion to League One with Rochdale in the 2013-14 season, and has been their top
goalscorer in the six subsequent seasons.
Henderson’s a proven goalscorer, having reached double figures in
nine of the last ten seasons and will add great experience to a Salford City squad that has already welcomed Tom Clarke, Ash Hunter, Jason Lowe and Jordan Turnbull.
The 35-year-old is looking forward to a new challenge:
“I’m really excited, the challenge that lies ahead, I met with Graham and Gary yesterday and they put across their targets, their goals, what they want to achieve at the football club in the next two, three years and I was excited to be a part of that.”
Salford City manager Graham Alexander commented:
“Ian is another fantastic addition to the squad, a vastly experienced forward with a proven goalscoring pedigree.
“He’s a player I’ve admired for a good few years now and I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to bring him to our club.”
A full first interview with Ian will be available from 19:00 on the clubs Twitter page
