How to read a fixture list

Rest days, travel and opponents all help explain the challenge ahead.

Start with the dates: how much recovery time is available between matches? Then look at travel, home and away runs, and the strength and style of the opposition. A congested schedule may encourage rotation. These factors provide context, but they cannot tell you the result before a ball is kicked.
