3 youngsters that should shine for Man City this season

Phil Foden Man City

Manchester City have an abundance of talent on the pitch and on the bench. But there are also some young players of immense quality waiting for their time to shine at the club…

Man City have a big gap to close next season, after losing out in the Premier League race to Liverpool by a whopping 18 points. This could hinder opportunities for the youngsters, as Guardiola may not be willing to take risks in his attempt to retrieve the trophy.

However, should the boss need to rely on his bank of youth, the following three players might be the first ones he turns to…

Adrian Bernabe

Born in 2001, 19-year-old Spanish midfielder joined City from the Barcelona Youth in 2018 for a free transfer.

This is a fantastic bit of business. Looking at the future this youngster could have and the effect he’s already had on the pitch for the academy. Last season, Bernabe made 27 appearances across the competitions, providing 15 goal contributions (8 goals, 7 assists).

Being a midfielder with such a conversion rate makes him alike to talents such as Bruno Fernandes, David Silva and other fantastic attacking midfielders.

Tommy Doyle

As if Man City didn’t already have enough potentially fantastic midfielders in their youth ranks. Tommy Doyle currently Captains the England under-19s from a defensive standpoint in the midfield. Having this kind of leadership experience at such a young age makes him vital to operations in the future of Manchester City.

He has spent his time with Man City’s youth academy so far in his career, but don’t be surprised if his name pops up in the first team throughout next season.

Phil Foden

Although you know you name, and although he already has 41 Premier League appearances under his belt. Phil Foden is not only cementing himself into the first team of Man City, but he is also being recognised across the globe as of England’s up and coming stars.

With his ability to score tremendous goals, pick out assists and being an overall hard-working team player, we will see more and more of Phil Foden. With the exit of David Silva, there is a huge hole to filled. And Foden could be the man pulling all the strings for Man City in future.
