Loan Watch: 2 promising Wigan Athletic players you should be keeping tabs on

The Football Manc Cave are looking at two players who are on loan from Wigan Athletic, who fans should keep an eye on upon their return to the Latics.

While Wigan has some players in on loan, they also have a few out on loan as well. I’ve picked out two of those options who will progress, develop and grow as players in their careers from this loan spell.

Hopefully, when they return to Wigan, they’ll earn themselves a spot in the starting line up regularly. Here’s two to look out for…

Callum Lang

Wigan fans were gutted when they heard the news that Callum Lang would be going on loan to Shrewsbury. He’s a player who fans respect and some think he should be in the starting line up. However, fans will have to watch him hopefully score elsewhere.

He’s only 21 so it’s a sensible move, as well as being a confident striker, he can adapt to left and right wings. He’s previously been on loans to Morecambe and Oldham. Hopefully, this will be his last loan spell to gain some experience before he’s ready to take on the Championship.

Owen Evans

This goalkeeper has gone on loan to Macclesfield and has earned himself a place in their starting line up. This is League Two that he’s playing in, so there’s a bit of a difference but he will take away the playing experience.

The 22-year-old has kept 2 clean sheets in 6 appearances so far this season and he’s developed through Wigan’s youth squads. His personal mission will be to gain enough experience so that he can impress at his parent club. Fans should keep an eye on him to see if his clean sheet total rises this season.
