Man City’s move for Juventus man would signal the end of winger, agree?
According to The Telegraph, Douglas Costa was Man City’s summer transfer target. Now other rumours are speculating about the players future, however, if he was to make a move for Man City, could it indicate the end for Sané?
The Football Manc Cave take a closer look…
More recent reports from the Manchester Evening News have explained how Manchester United was interested in the winger as part of a swap deal, however, it looks like he’s happy where he is at Juventus.
Football fans know by now that Pep Guardiola is a man who likes to have many options in terms of players. Leroy Sané has recently been ruled out with an injury in which he will need surgery for and speculation grew around what Guardiola would do. Replace him, shift his existing players around or some other master plan. Like I’ve said before about his managerial skills, he pushes players to levels that other teams don’t have so that if he ever has to cope with an injury or anything that jeopardises a position, he always has back up.
It’s been said before that a lot of the highly-rated Man City team can alternate in positions to cover teammates, and that’s exactly what they’ve done this time. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Jesus, Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne make the perfect group to create goals and chances and they can all shift around to create different playing styles.
However, Guardiola is also a man who doesn’t like to leave himself short so let’s say he managed to get Douglas Costa to leave Juventus for the blues, could that signal the end of Leroy Sané? In my personal opinion, no. I think the Man City boss has got the perfect set up.
Yes, it was a big blow when Sané found out he would be out for weeks because he had looked so promising in pre-season. I think it will just be a case of time now and see how he recovers from his injury as he gradually gets back into play. For those who want Costa to make a move to the Etihad, here’s how the two wingers compare.
